Autumn gardening – preparing the soil
I love this picture of a cute little roo running along in the grass. When I’m in the garden I love playing with my chickens. More often than not, they love to help me with the weeding as well as keeping an eye open for any tasty bug that may be lurking under the pots 🌱 💚 .
As the temperatures cool down heading into autumn, this is the perfect time to prepare the soil for winter gardening. Our soil is particularly sandy, so any organic matter is going to help. I prefer to use big planters, tubs or pots, anything that will hold the soil and organic matter as it breaks down into nutrient-rich soil for our vegetables.
Each season, we are experimenting with what grows well in our garden and then planting more of what works the following season. What are your favourite winter veggies?
